Frequently Asked Questions

Processing times can vary. If your application has been under review for more than 6 weeks (in Kenya) or 10 weeks (abroad), contact the Immigration Department or your embassy for an update. They may need additional documents.

You will receive an SMS or email notification when your passport is ready for collection. You can also check the status on eCitizen. For applications from abroad, the embassy will contact you when the passport arrives.

Generally, you must collect your passport in person with a valid ID. Some embassies allow collection by a designated representative with a notarised authorisation letter and copies of both IDs. Contact your embassy to confirm their policy.
