Document Attestation for UAE

Kenya documents for use in the UAE require a specific attestation chain:

  1. Notarisation in Kenya (advocate/notary public)
  2. Attorney General authentication
  3. MOFA Kenya authentication
  4. UAE Embassy in Nairobi attestation
  5. UAE MOFA attestation (done in UAE)

Required for: work visas, family visas, opening bank accounts, salary certificates, and educational qualifications. Arabic translation may also be required.

Both offices provide passport and consular services. Visit whichever is more convenient. The Abu Dhabi embassy is the main office, while the Dubai consulate primarily serves residents of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.

Passport confiscation is illegal under UAE labour law. Contact the Kenya embassy immediately and also file a complaint with UAE MOHRE (Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation). The embassy can intervene on your behalf.
